HOW TO ADJUST THE RIFLESCOPE ON THE AIR RIFLE?

A riflescope is an optical device that is usually installed on the frame of a weapon and makes it easier and faster to aim at a longer distance. When aiming through classic fixed sights, the shooter must align the front sight with the sight and at the same time aim at the target. When shooting through a riflescope, however, all you need to do is align the reticle (cross) with the target, which makes shooting faster, more comfortable and easier. Next, we will explain how to choose the right riflescope and how to set it up.

CHARACTERISTICS OF RIFLESCOPES AND THEIR PARAMETERS

When choosing a riflescope, it is necessary to think about the purpose for which it is to be used. Riflescopes with larger optics and variable magnification (ZOOM) are used when shooting at greater distances. Smaller riflescopes are suitable for shorter distances. When choosing a riflescope e.g. for air rifle, the energy of the projectile must also be considered. If you have an air rifle with a low energy projectile with a limited range (e.g. up to 7.5 Joules), a riflescope of smaller dimensions and even without a variable magnification (e.g. 4 x 20, 4 x 32) will definitely be sufficient. Riflescopes with variable magnification are usually marked with e.g. 3-9 x 40. Figure 3-9 tells you that you can zoom in on the target image from 3x magnification to 9x magnification. Figure 40 represents the lens width in millimeters. The larger the lens, the greater the brightness, but at the expense of weight. The more you zoom, the smaller the field of view and the lower the brightness. Riflescopes without variable magnification have higher light transmission. Some models also have a backlight of a cross or center point, which helps e.g. when shooting in the twilight. The intensity of the backlight can usually be regulated in several stages. When choosing a riflescope, you may also come across the term parallax. Parallax is a mechanical adjustment of the optical system that is used to display the target in the same focal plane at any distance. Thanks to the high types of mountings with the so-called on some models of weapons, it is also possible to aim through fixed sights or even through a riflescope. There are also different forms or shapes of intentional crosses with different designations. Popular brands of air riflescopes are Walther, Nikko Stirling and Valiant.

HOW TO SET THE RIFLESCOPE ON THE AIR RIFLE?

It is not enough to just put the riflescope on your weapon. It must be adjusted horizontally and vertically in accordance with the instructions. For adjusting riflescopes, there are also special stands for the weapon, which fix it firmly, and then there is a test shooting at the target and horizontal and vertical adjustment of the riflescope. However, most of you certainly do not have such a professional tool at home and will not even want to invest several hundred Euros in it. Therefore, if you do not have a stand, rest your rifle on an object or buy a bipod to eliminate possible deviations caused by shocks as much as possible. Set the distance to which you want to set the riflescope (for an air rifle with a projectile energy of about 15 Joules, e.g. 25 m) and place a target (preferably with a standard size of 14 x 14 cm). Start repeated shooting at the target and, depending on how the bullet is shot away, make a side and height correction on the riflescope.
