A hammock is a place to rest and sleep made of netting or fabric that is stretched between two fixing points to form a lying area. It provides increased cushioning and protection from dangerous animals, dirt and moisture. Hammocks are now widespread around the world and serve as a relaxing place to lie not only outdoors. Fabric or net hammocks are available with or without spreader bars. A basic rule of thumb for hammocks for camping and lounging is to look for a hammock that is at least 40 to 60 cm longer than your height, which is the right size for most people.

• lying areas. 

Important features of hammocks and tarpaulins are:

• total length,
• the length and width of the lying area,
• material, 
• weight.
