Paracord ropes – an essential part of every backpack
Paracord, parachute rope or 550 rope, is a lightweight nylon rope with a sheath, originally used in parachute suspension lines. Today, paracord is used as an all-purpose rope. It is usually composed of 32 interlaced strands, giving it a relatively smooth texture, and it is made of high quality and strong materials. The all-nylon construction makes paracord somewhat elastic. Paracord ropes have a load capacity of up to 250 kg and are designed for a variety of outdoor activities. Paracord rope is abrasion resistant, has high strength and load capacity, yet it is thin; it doesn't take up much space. Paracord is one of the basic equipment for outdoor survival, but it is also used in the production of military backpacks, e.g. on loops and bindings.
Hikers and outdoor sports enthusiasts sometimes use "survival bracelets or necklaces" made from several feet of paracord that is woven into a compact and wearable form. Paracord bracelets and necklaces are tied in a way that can be easily untangled for use in a survival situation, and some also have built-in accessories such as a compass, thermometer, or various other survival components.
