RIFLESCOPES

A riflescope is an optical device mounted on a firearm that makes aiming at longer distances easier and faster. When aiming through standard iron sights, the shooter must align the front sight with the rear sight while simultaneously aiming at the target. When shooting through a riflescope, it is enough to align the reticle with the target, making shooting faster, more comfortable and easier. Thanks to high mounts with a so-called see-through design, some firearm models allow aiming through iron sights or through the riflescope.

Different types of riflescopes according to their features and functions:

In our offer you will find quality riflescopes for various types of firearms and purposes:

What are riflescopes used for?

Riflescopes are mainly used on long guns (rifles and carbines), regardless of whether they are air guns, airsoft guns, sporting or hunting firearms. All these types of long guns can use a riflescope if they are intended for shooting at longer distances where standard iron sights are no longer sufficient for precise aiming. Of course, a riflescope designed, for example, for an air rifle or an airsoft gun will not be suitable in terms of quality and durability for a hunting rifle.

How to choose a riflescope?

When choosing the right riflescope, several factors should be considered:

1. Type and power of the firearm

For an air rifle, more affordable riflescope models are sufficient, while for a hunting rifle you will need a higher-quality and more durable riflescope with a solid construction.

2. Shooting distance

Whether you plan to shoot at short, medium or very long distances. Based on this, you should consider whether a riflescope with lower fixed magnification (e.g. 4x32) will be sufficient, or whether you will need a riflescope with variable magnification (e.g. 3-9x40, 8-32x56) for medium and very long distances.

  • Short distances: fixed magnification is sufficient (e.g. 4x32).
  • Medium and long distances: a riflescope with variable magnification is more suitable (e.g. 3-9x40 or 4-16x50).

3. Adjustable parallax

The need for adjustable parallax is also related to distance. If you plan to shoot at shorter distances, adjustable parallax is not essential. For longer distances, choosing a riflescope with adjustable parallax is a good decision.

4. Lighting conditions

If you plan to shoot in poor lighting conditions (e.g. at dusk), choosing a riflescope with an illuminated reticle or part of it is the right option.

5. Mounting

A compatible mount according to the rail type is required to attach the riflescope to the firearm. Proper mounting is crucial for stability and shooting accuracy.

6. Tube and riflescope diameter

The tube diameter (optics body) is also important when choosing a riflescope:

  • 1" (25.4 mm) – common standard for recreational and hunting use
  • 30 mm – wider adjustment range and more robust construction
  • 34 mm – designed for professional and long-range models

A larger tube usually means better mechanical durability and a greater elevation adjustment range.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the difference between a red dot sight and a riflescope?

Both a red dot sight and a riflescope make aiming easier and faster, as the shooter does not need to align the front and rear sights while simultaneously aiming at the target, as is the case with standard iron sights. However, a red dot sight is a more compact aiming device designed for shooting at very short distances.

What is the difference between a rifle diopter sight and a riflescope?

A diopter sight is a more precise form of rear sight, usually supplied with a special front sight. However, you still need to align the front sight with the diopter and simultaneously aim at the target. When shooting through a riflescope, it is enough to align the reticle (crosshair) with the target.

What does the designation 6x40 mean?

This designation indicates that the riflescope has fixed six-times magnification and a 40 mm objective lens diameter.

What does the designation 3-9x40 mean?

This designation indicates that the riflescope features variable magnification. The magnification can be adjusted from three-times up to nine-times. The objective lens diameter is 40 mm.

Which riflescope do we recommend for an air rifle with pellet energy up to 16 joules?

An air rifle, for example in cal. 4.5 mm with pellet energy up to 16 J, has the potential for accurate target shooting with quality pellets up to approximately 30 m. We therefore recommend either a 4x32 riflescope or a 3-9x40 model. A riflescope with higher variable magnification would be unnecessary and its parameters underutilised.

Is a riflescope with parallax better?

If you shoot at longer distances (over 50 – 100 m), adjustable parallax significantly increases accuracy.
