Slingshots and blowguns are designed for sport and recreational shooting. Our range includes slingshots in both metal and plastic versions, models with a wrist brace, and dart blowguns in various lengths. We also stock ammo balls, replacement bands, and darts.
What are slingshots used for today?
- pest control,
- garden and leisure shooting,
- sport target shooting,
- groundbaiting while fishing.
Blowguns that shoot thin darts are popular mainly as a fun, casual pastime. Interestingly, though, both disciplines have their own international sporting competitions: the World Slingshot Association organises international slingshot-shooting competitions, while the International Fukiya Association oversees international blowgun competitions.
Are slingshots and blowguns legal in Slovakia?
Slingshots and blowguns can be bought freely in Slovakia, with no restrictions. In some EU countries, however, acquiring, owning, or carrying certain types of slingshots and blowguns is restricted. So if you'd like your slingshot or blowgun delivered to a country other than Slovakia, please check first whether the model you're ordering is legal in the destination country.
Types of slingshots
Slingshots can be broadly divided into these groups:
- very simple models, also suitable for young shooters, such as the metal slingshot PR-002 or the plastic slingshot SC 300,
- standard, medium-sized slingshots, such as the SC 304B model,
- sport slingshots with a forearm or wrist brace for a steadier grip and more precise aiming, such as the SC 303 model or the SD7-A model.
What ammo do slingshots use?
- steel balls in various diameters,
- plastic balls in various diameters,
- glass balls in various diameters,
- improvised ammo, such as bearing balls or pebbles.
Since the bands on a slingshot are a consumable part, it's worth keeping a set of replacement bands on hand. Their lifespan is shortened by hardening from improper storage, as well as by overstretching the band past its limits, which risks cracking or snapping it.
Types of blowguns
Dart blowguns differ mainly in length (e.g. 12”, 18”, 24”, 30”, 38”). Some of the longer models, such as the JS-ARCHERY Blow Gun 38" blowgun, are foldable and made up of two main sections that join together. As a rule, the longer the blowgun, the greater the accuracy and range of the dart can be. That said, it also comes down to the shooter's skill and lung power.
Safety
A projectile fired from a slingshot or a dart shot from a blowgun can travel several dozen metres. That's why it's important to shoot only in safe locations, where there's no risk of damage to property or harm to other people. We recommend that children only use a slingshot or blowgun under adult supervision.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is a slingshot legal in Slovakia?
Yes, a slingshot is legal in Slovakia and can be bought freely, with no restrictions. That said, it definitely shouldn't be left in a child's hands without an adult present and supervising.
What's the difference between a slingshot with a brace and a classic slingshot?
A slingshot fitted with a wrist or forearm brace gives you a steadier, more comfortable grip, which results in better aim and a higher shot speed.
Which balls are suitable for a slingshot?
Slingshot shooting typically uses steel balls in various diameters, such as 6 mm, 8 mm, or 9 mm, as well as glass balls in sizes such as 14 mm and 16 mm. That said, slingshot shooters also use improvised ammo, such as bearing balls or pebbles.
How long a blowgun should you choose?
Blowgun lengths vary, ranging roughly from 12” to 38”. For young shooters, shorter blowguns in the 12”–18” range are a good fit. Adult shooters are better suited to longer blowguns of 24” or more.
