Outdoor First Aid Kits – the foundation of safe travel and time in nature
A first aid kit is a cabinet or case adapted for the long-term and safe storage of medical supplies intended for first aid. Taking a first aid kit with you on trips is a very essential thing to do. A hiking first aid kit won't take up much space and can save your life if needed, it should be small, portable and most importantly practical.
What are the essentials a hiker's first aid kit must contain?
- Sterile bandage
- Elastic bandage
- Gauze or gauze bandage
- Quick bandage (patch)
- Disinfectant solution
- Plaster
- Safety pin
- Small scissors
Hiking first aid kits come in different sizes and it's up to you which one you choose. If you're not going on a multi-day trip, even basic first aid will suffice. For multi-day outdoor activities, it is preferable to choose a larger version of the first aid kit that contains more than basic medical supplies.
A word of advice at the end: The first aid kit has to be quickly accessible, so we pack it in the top part of the backpack.
