Favorite diabolo pelletes in kal. 4.5 mm and 5.5 mm

It happens many times, that customers cannot decide which type of pellets to buy for their new air-rifle, or they simply would like to try some other brands, types and kinds of pellets, but they do not know which ones to choose. No wonder they can’t. Nowadays, the market offers hundreds of types and kinds of pellets for air-rifles, whether from well-known or less known brands. The goal of this article is to advise customers about favorite pellets. We are going to focus on the most common calibers, that are calibers 4.5 mm and 5.5 mm.

PELLETS CALIBER 4.5 MM

 Caliber defines the diameter of the pellet and it is either expressed in European metric system (4.5 mm) or in imperial metric system in one, two or three decimal points of inch. Therefore, you can also see the indication of caliber as .177 (0.177´´).

• Pellets with flat nose – they are usually intended for target shooting, since they cut perfect circle in paper target after hit. The most favorite and affordable pellets of this type are pellets of a brand GECO GLATT or WINCHESTER FLAT NOSED. Experienced shooters might prefer higher quality brands such as JSB PREMIUM MATCH a RWS R 10 MATCH
• Round-nosed pellets (domed pellets) – round nose is often considered to be the standard shape of pellet and it is versatile. They are suitable for hobby shooting and home target shooting. There are also competition pellets with rounded nose. Among the most favorite and cheapest pellets of this type belongs definitely pellets KOVOHUTĚ STANDARD or WINCHESTER ROUND NOSE. The pellets of the highest quality and accuracy of this type are definitely JSB EXACT and JSB PREMIUM EXACT.
• Pointed pellets – they are designed for better penetration and therefore, they are used for hunting vermin such as rats etc. The market, also in this case, offers cheaper as well as more expensive brands. Among the cheapest are WINCHESTER POINTED and UMAREX COBRA. If you are looking not only for good penetration but also accuracy, experienced shooter would advise you pellets JSB STRATON or HN BARACUDA.
• Special hunting pellets – they have specific shape and are often made of combination of different materials. In this category belong pellets HN HORNET and PREDATOR POLYMAG.

PELLETS CALIBER 5.5 MM

In case of 5.5 mm caliber you can also see it labeled as 22 (0.22´´) according to imperial metric system. Because of the bigger diameter, they usually come in less pieces per package packaging compared to caliber 4.5 mm. The most common are packages of 250 or 300 pieces.

• Pellets with flat nose – from the lower price range are extremely popular pellets UMAREX MOSQUITO and GAMO MATCH. If you aim for higher quality, we recommend you popular Czech pellets JSB JUMBO MATCH.

• Round-nosed pellets – when it comes to price, bestsellers are definitely pellets GAMO PRO HUNTER and classic Czech pellets KOVOHUTĚ STANDARD. On the other hand, among round-nosed pellets with the highest quality are JSB JUMBO EXACT and HN FIELD TARGET.

• Pointed pellets – also in this case, packages of pellets, UMAREX COBRA have very convenient price. JSB JUMBO STRATON are on the other hand characterized by higher quality.
• Special hunting pellets– as in the case of  4.5 mm caliber, great pellets HN HORNET and PREDATOR POLYMAG are available in 5.5 mm caliber.
