Do you care about your short weapon the way it deserves?

A big mistake of some owners of short firearms is the opinion that they do not have to clean their weapon thoroughly and take care of it regularly. Do you want your arm not to disappoint you at crucial moments? In order for it to work well and to be always 100% ready, it must be given the best care.

The fact that the arm is modified against corrosion does not mean that excessive dirt does not settle on it and inside it. With regular care of the arm, you can also find various defects and minor damage, which, however, can cause the arm to malfunction or even have fatal consequences when firing. Therefore, devote sufficient time to your favourite arm.

Safety first!

Before you start disassembling the arm, pay attention to important safety actions. First of all, do not have an arm loaded and remove all ammunition from it. It is possible that an older arm will fire when the components are released. Therefore, keep the magazine and the chamber empty.

Gradually, you can disassemble the arm and within the work area, we recommend disassembling the parts of the weapon stepwise as you disassemble it. It's a simple trick to fold the weapon faster, and this layout will help you navigate through the process of folding it faster. At the same time, nothing important will be left on the table, because you will follow the exact sequence of steps. Also prepare all necessary cleaning tools in advance. Preparation can be easier and more compact if you choose whole cleaning kits for firearms.

Cleaning after each use

It’s up to you, when you decide to clean your firearm. You know best what material it is made of, what ammunition you use, how often you shoot with it, or where your arm is stored. But do you know exactly when it's time to clean?

It is best to clean the weapon after each use. And that is as soon as possible, until the fluids dry out and the impurities of the gunpowder and fumes settle. On the contrary, if you hardly ever use the arm, pay the same attention to it as to the used one. Proper care will extend the life of both of your arms.

Lubricating and cleaning oils are mostly used for cleaning arms. You can clean the barrels and bores with the help of different types of cleaning rods, and different coloured brushes will also serve well.  Have a few with you right away and we recommend having different colours, because for example, you can see on the white brush whether the barrel is clean enough, and you can proceed to check. The cleaning procedure is simple. First, physically clean the handgun well, and then use chemical cleaners to dissolve the remaining and stronger impurities. However, pay attention to their effects on other materials and, of course, protect your hands with gloves.

Later, remove the chemicals with cloths and preserve the handgun with suitable means. Before doing so, however, check the arm for damage and defects. This whole process is quite physically demanding, but the arm will repay you with great functionality.

Disassemble, clean, check, lubricate, fold

Here are 5 basic steps you can take to clean handguns. Today's arms are designed so that you don't have to disassemble the entire structure when cleaning, so you can focus on the busiest parts. The barrel with a bore, the frame of the arm, the slide, the hammer and the safety are the parts to which you will devote the most time. If you clean all these parts correctly, you have a reliable arm that shoots accurately. All you have to do is aim correctly.

Do not forget about safety at work and quality products with which to clean the arm best. In the e-shop AFG-defense.eu you can find number of quality lubricants, cleaning oils and brusher for proper maintenance of your handgun.
