Pistol Makarov, cal. 9 Makarov

The Makarov pistol (PM) was a standard weapon used mostly by officers of all types of troops or military officers in most countries of the former Warsaw Pact. Its advantage is a relatively small, compact size. It was designed by a Russian designer Nikolai Fedorovich Makarov in the USSR. It is actually a revamped copy of the Walther PP. The Makarov is made of extremely high quality materials, and that affects the weapon quality. With its internal structure it is basically very simple. This allows for easy fine-tuning of the weapon operation. It si suitable fro demanding and inadaptable conditions. In testing, it withstood even in harsh conditions, namely when shooting in mud, wet sand, with ammunition covered with sand, etc. It therefore carries an unwritten certificate: The Makarov PM is among the most durable weapons in the world. It has a dynamic slide, recoil is determined by a spring which is very strong. For this type of weapon Russia developed a special cartridge caliber, namely the Makarov 9x18 ammunition which exceeds the performance and power of today commonly used the 9 mm Luger ammunition. This weapon was so recognized, that it was reproduced and upgraded in several countries, such as China, under the designation the Type 59, in German Democratic Republic, the term Gun M, in Russia it underwent modernization under the name PMM, in Poland it was the P-64 gun, etc.
