German company UMAREX, which is the largest manufacturer of off-the-shelf weapons in the world, is constantly launching new products on the market. Earlier this year, the next generations of the popular T4E brand guns were released. They can shoot rubber balls, marker balls and pepper balls. However, there are also some new models in the CO2 range in cal. 4.5 mm (.177). Let's introduce some of them.
CO2 guns that shoot steel shot are not particularly accurate because they do not have rifled barrels. However, their ammunition (steel shot) is very cheap and fun to shoot. Rather than targets in this case, it is preferable to shoot at e.g. metal beverage cans. Steel shot is very hard and tends to bounce off the target, so be sure to protect your eyesight with suitable goggles and always shoot in a safe area where you cannot injure anyone or cause damage to property.
The first novelty we would like to introduce in this category is a replica of the Walther PDP Compact 4" in cal. 4.5 mm supplied in a set with a red dot sight type UX RDS 8. It is a compact, metal slide pistol with a Blow-Back feature that is very well made and fits well in the hand. Projectile energy is tuned to 3 Joules with a muzzle velocity of up to 120 m/s. The 12g CO2 cartridge lasts up to 70 shots according to the manufacturer. The red dot sight features a red dot with two light intensities. The magazine capacity is 18 steel shot.
The second novelty in this category is the CO2 gun UX RaceGun Set in cal. 4.5 mm. This pistol is not a replica of any particular pistol, it is a custom design by UMAREX. However, due to the dimensions of the pistol, the imitation compensator and the massive red dot sight mount, we can conclude that this is a design similar to IPSC competition pistols. The total length of the pistol is over 26 cm and the weight is over 1 kg thanks to the full-metal design. It is a really sturdy pistol suitable for larger hands. It has a projectile energy of up to 3 Joules with a muzzle velocity of up to 120 m/s. The UX GDS red dot sight is equipped with a green aiming point. Of course, there is also a Blow-Back function.
CO2 guns that shoot standard pellets are equipped with a rifled barrel, which gives the fired pellet more accuracy. This makes them suitable for target shooting as well. However, magazine fired CO2 pistols are not built to use any pellets. MATCH (flat head) type pellets are mostly recommended. In the power range of around 3 Joules, pellets with a maximum weight of 0.50 g should be selected.
CO2 gun UX SPA Expert in cal. 4.5 mm is very simple in design, which makes it very inexpensive. The design of this pistol suggests that it should be a sport air pistol suitable for beginners. The pistols are loaded via rotary magazines and there are three of them in the package. Bottom and top mounting rails allow for the installation of various accessories such as a laser sight, flashlight or red dot sight. The projectile energy is up to 3 Joules and the muzzle velocity is up to 100 m/s.
Another novelty shooting pellets in cal. 4.5 mm is a replica of the Walther Q5 Match Combo 5" pistol. It comes in a set with a UX RDS 8 red dot sight. The Walther Q5 comes in a stylish dual-tone color combination with a blue trigger. It's no slouch, as evident by its total length of over 20cm and weight of almost 1kg. Projectile energy is up to 3 Joules and muzzle velocity is up to 110 m/s. Of course, the Blow-Back function, thanks to which the slide moves with each shot as on a real self-loading pistol, is not absent here either.
