It is no longer the case that you walk into an army shop, ask for airgun pellets and the salesman offers you a choice of no more than three boxes. When choosing pellets, you need to know the caliber of your gun, its power (to choose the right weight of the pellet) and the purpose of using the pellet (sport shooting, hobby shooting, hunting). Today, however, we will look more at pellets that are somehow special.
VERY ACCURATE PELLETS
If you are looking for accurate pellets for your air rifle with a power output of around 16 Joules, you should definitely reach for the Czech brand If you are looking for accurate pellets for your air rifle with a power output of around 16 Joules, you should definitely reach for the Czech brand JSB or the German brand Haendler & Natermann. Forget about the fact that the accuracy of a pellet depends only on its shape. Accuracy depends mainly on the quality of production and output control, the quality of the mixture and its surface, the hundredth caliber and the center of gravity of the pellet. But beware, these brands also produce economical packs for hobby shooting, so you need to be prepared to spend at least 8 Euro or more for better quality and accurate pellets. Popular accurate pellets in cal. 4.5 mm are JSB Exact 4,52 and in cal. 5.5 mm and JSB Exact Jumbo 5,52. From the HN brand, we recommend in cal. 4.5 mm HN Barracuda 8 4,51 and in cal. 5.5 mm we recommend HN Barracuda 15 5,53.

HUNTING PELLETS
Hunting pellets are primarily used for hunting or for killing pests (e.g. rats). They are characterized by a special shape (e.g. cavity, notches on the sides, protruding tip, etc.). Particularly popular metal-tipped pellets are the HN model Hornet pellets in cal. 4.5 mm or in cal. 5.5 mm. They offer the maximum possible penetration with a tearing effect. Equivalent to them are the Metalmag pellets, also available in cal. 4.5 mm and 5.5 mm.
Hunting pellets with special notches are e.g. JSB pellets model Hades 4.51 and Hades 5.5. Similar pellets of the competing brand HN are the Hunter Extreme 4.5 and Hunter Extreme 5.5 pellets.

SLUG TYPE PELLETS
SLUG type pellets are a relatively new type of pellets and are becoming more and more popular. Their shape resembles that of a bullet projectile and they are fitted with a cavity. They are thus hunting pellets with extremely high accuracy. Among the best manufacturers of such pellets are again the Czech brand JSB and the German brand Haendler & Natermann. Among the Czech slugs, the popular models are JSB KnockOut Slugs 4.51 and JSB KnockOut Slugs .217. Among the German ones are the HN Slug HP .1775 and the HN Slug HP 5.53.
Of course, both the JSB brand and Haendler & Natermann offer their quality pellets in calibers other than 4.5 mm (.177) and 5.5 mm (.22). Calibers such as 6.35 mm (.25), 7.62 mm (.30) and 9 mm (.35) are also available. They also offer their pellets in a variety of hundredths calibers and in different weight ranges.
