The most famous manufacturers of replicas in the form of airsoft guns

The number of airsoft gun manufacturers located mainly in Asia is perhaps impossible to clearly identify or count. However, most manufacturers are not licensed to produce replicas of real guns. A licensed replica should have identical or nearly identical dimensions to the real model and should also have markings, inscriptions and logos identical to the original. Therefore, most of the airsoft guns that are on the market are not licensed replicas but rather just imitations of not quite exact dimensions and without the original inscriptions and markings on the gun. Only some manufacturers (or brands) are authorized to produce licensed replicas in the form of airsoft guns. In the following lines we will talk about two successful manufacturers.

UMAREX

Umarex Sportwaffen GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1972 in Germany. Since 2006, there is also a separate US division for the American market. The company is probably the largest manufacturer and distributor of over-the-counter weapons in the world. It is dedicated to the manufacture and distribution of airsoft guns, paintball guns, air guns, crossbows, bows and a wealth of accessories for these weapons. However, its overall portfolio is much broader. They offer defensive equipment such as telescopic batons and teargas sprays and a wide range of knives.

The Umarex brand has licenses to manufacture replicas of Beretta, Ruger, Glock, Walther and H&K. Therefore, in the form of airsoft weapons, the offer of this manufacturer does not lack, for example, a replica of the popular self-loading pistol Glock 17, Walther P99 or H&K USP. Among the replicas of assault rifles and submachine guns, there is e.g. H&K MP5 or H&K 416.

ASG

The Danish company ActionSportGames A/S started to establish and build its brand in 1998. The first years of operation were rather dedicated only to importing and exporting airsoft guns from Asia via Denmark to other countries. The first licenses for the production of official gun replicas started to be obtained gradually from 2000 onwards. The ASG brand has gradually developed into a leading manufacturer of airsoft guns. It has warehouses, headquarters and logistics offices in Denmark, England, France and in the USA.

ASG has licenses to manufacture gun replicas by CZ, Dan Wesson, Bersa, Arsenal, B&T and Steyr Mannlicher. That is why the company's offer includes high-quality replicas of Czech pistols, e. g. CZ 75D Compact, CZ P-09 and CZ P-07, or a replica of a Dan Wesson revolver, or a replica of an assault rifle CZ 805 Bren.
