Slingshots and pea shooters – fun that costs little money

Slingshots and pea shooters are the guns that belong among the simple weapons which origin go deep into history. They are affordable, do not require special maintenance, they are not dangerous if handled properly and they are fun. They do not belong to firearms according to the law on firearms, so you can have fun with them and practice shooting even at home in the yard, of course, in such a way that you do not endanger the life, health and property of other people. SLINGSHOTS

A slingshot is a weapon that fires projectiles (for example stones, plastic and metal balls) using human power. Weapons that operated on the principle of a slingshot were already used by the army of the Roman Empire. However, it began to receive its standard Y-shape only at the end of the 19th century, when slingshots were made from a forked branch in the shape of this letter. The first commercially produced slingshots began to be produced at the beginning of the 20th century. Unfortunately, they are sometimes referred to as weapons of vandals who shot them into buildings in order to cause damage. Currently, however, there are also sports disciplines of shooting from a slingshot, so the slingshot can be considered mainly as a sports and leisure weapon.

The slingshot model 302 by the Italian brand Stil Crin is a slingshot with a standard design, which is enhanced by a wrist rest. The wrist rest provides a more stable and confident grip, and thus it is making shooting more accurate. The design of the slingshot is metal, the handle is plastic. The weight is just over 280 g.

The JS-ARCHERY brand offers a more powerful slingshot marked as SD7-A. An interesting feature of this model is the fact that the shoulders and wrist rest can be adjusted relative to each other, therefore this slingshot fits in any hand. Its design is also metal, the handle is plastic, and the weight is 390 g.

PEA SHOOTERS

A pea shooter is a simple weapon consisting of a straight tube from which arrows can be fired by blowing. It is estimated that the history of the pea shooters dates back to prehistoric times. To a greater extent, however, it began to occur during the Stone Age. Among the first pea shooters were bamboo pea shooters found mainly in South America and Asia. They were mainly used in for hunting in combination with tranquilizers or poisonous substances.

The two-piece blow gun by brand JS-ARCHERY model with a length of 38" is equipped with a foam handle for a more stable and comfortable grip, which can be moved as needed. This model can also be used without the second part as a shorter version with a length of 21 ́ ́ (520 mm). Its weight is only 115 g.

The 12" model is an extra short version of the pea shooter (only 305 mm). A big plus of this model is also a holder for 10 pieces of arrows. This model is ultralight, weighing only 55 g.
