AIRSOFT REPLICA CZ 805 BREN A1 / A2

AIRSOFT REPLICA CZ 805 BREN A1 / A2

The CZ 805 BREN assault rifle was started in 2006 with the intention to replace the legendary SA vz. 58 and switch to the standard NATO caliber - 5.56 x 45 mm. This intention was achieved and the CZ 805 BREN was introduced into the Czech army in 2011. Apart from the Czech Republic, it is also used by the armed forces in e. g. Indonesia and Mexico. The manufacturer of the original is Česká zbrojovka, a.s. The airsoft replica, which we will take a closer look at in the following lines, is produced by the Danish manufacturer of airsoft guns ActionSportGames A/S (ASG).

CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE ORIGIN

ActionSportGames A/S has for many years been the owner of the license for the production of CZ brand airsoft replica guns. It is authorised to produce licensed replicas which are characterised by a high degree of similarity to the original patterns and inscriptions and markings identical to the original patterns. The ASG brand offers replicas of such legendary Czech weapons as the submachine gun SA vz. 61 and Scorpion EVO or pistols CZ 75 D Compact, CZ P-07 and CZ P-09. Therefore, it is not surprising that shortly after the introduction of the CZ 805 BREN assault rifle into the Czech army's arsenal (2011), the production of its airsoft replica began to be discussed. However, the development had to wait for quite a long time and the final version reached the market only in the second half of 2016.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

Airsoft replica CZ 805 BREN A1 / A2 cal. 6 mm BB is supplied in a color illustrated cardboard box and the package contains a gun, one magazine and detachable sights. The PROLINE inscription on the packaging alone indicates that this is not a cheap airsoft replica for beginners. And it is exactly that, just one look at the gun and it immediately looks extremely realistic, also thanks to the original inscriptions and markings, as the original model has.

As soon as you get your hands on the gun, you will notice that the majority of the gun is made of metal. The upper body is made of CNC machined duralumin. The barrel is metal and finished with an imitation flame throw suppressor that can be unscrewed and replaced with another left-hand threaded 14mm silencer. Of course, the mounting rails, on which you can install a wide range of accessories (e. g. red dot sight, flashlight, laser sight), are also made of metal.

The lower body, which includes the handguard and magazine well, is made of durable and well-crafted plastic. Earlier models used G36 type magazines. Recently, however, the CZ 805 BREN comes with a magazine well for M16 / M4 type magazines, which is a great advantage as these are perhaps the most widely used and available magazines for airsoft guns.

The stock is also made of durable plastic and is telescopic and can also be folded. The safety of the folding joint is solid, which makes it sturdy enough. The stock length is adjustable in four levels. There is also a cheek piece.

Disassembly is relatively simple and quick, and starts with the disassembly of the stock, which you have to remove whenever you want to replace the battery that slides into the upper body. The mainspring can already be replaced (Quick Spring Change) when the stock is removed. After a detailed disassembly, you will find that the internal parts also match the PROLINE design. The core of the weapon is formed by a metal mechanism (version 3) with metal 7 mm bearings.

TECHNICAL PARAMETERS

The manufacturer specifies a projectile energy of up to 1.40 J and a muzzle velocity of up to 400 fps (120 m/s). This power is delivered by the M120 type spring. The recommended battery is a 7.4 V Slim Stick type battery with a Mini Tamiya type connector.  If by any chance someone finds the power insufficient, this model can easily handle further upgrades to increase energy and muzzle velocity.

The standard magazine, which is included in the package, has a capacity of 360 pellets (Hi-Cap version). It can be replaced with any different brands of M16/M4 type magazine. Thanks to the adjustable Hop-Up function, you can influence the rotation of the pellet and thus its range and accuracy. CZ 805 BREN shoots in both full-auto and semi-auto mode.

Thanks to the many metal parts, the weight of the A1 version is 3,200 g (A2 version 3,100 g). The total length of the A1 version is from 875 to 930 mm (A2 version from 792 to 847 mm), depending on the adjustment of the retractable stock.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, we can assess that this is a very realistic looking replica of the original, either in appearance or in the hands. Most airsoft submachine guns and assault rifles are tuned to deliver up to 1.00 Joule, but the CZ 805 BREN delivers up to 1.40 Joule. Pellet range and target shot is excellent. Experienced airsoft players who prefer even more power will also be pleased, as it is easy to upgrade. Thanks to the ambidextrous firing mode switch, customizable cheekpiece and customizable bolt lever, the CZ 805 BREN is also suitable for left-handed shooters. The magazine well type M16 / M4 offers the possibility to purchase a wide range of spare magazines with different capacities from different manufacturers.

The disadvantages are the higher price and the absence of basic equipment such as a battery with charger, which will disappoint especially beginners. However, every experienced airsoft player knows that the price of an airsoft replica with the PROLINE marking cannot be a couple of tens of Euros, and that a pro player prefers to choose the battery with charger himself, depending on which brand he trusts.
