Despite the 40-year-old design, it is still recognized as a powerful and reliable weapon. In the year of introduction it was really a groundbreaking and with its quality in the opinion of several experts it surpasses Soviet Ak-47s, but also a lot of contemporary western designs. Among members of the Czechoslovak Army (and not only among them) it became a legendary weapon. It was appreciated in particular for its high reliability, resistance to external influences and very good quality of workmanship. According to many former members of the CSLA, the gun worked at any time, it did not mind water, mud, sand or cold. A quality shooter reaches an accurate hit with a single shot to 400 m, and while shooting for group goals, very satisfactory results over a distance of 800 m are achieved. The gun is primarily deigned to destroy live enemy forces, and that by firing, the bayonet or butt. Furthermore, it can also be used to destroy enemy's unarmored technology, low-flying helicopters and planes, or falling paratroopers.
